My name is Betty Rodriguez-Hakes,  owner of GourmetBetty.com, a Cooking Instructor, public speaker and a marketing professional.

There's more to cooking and baking than just food.  We don't just eat because we need food to live.  Food is the cornerstone of family reunions, dates, meetings, traditions -- if you think about it -- everything! Certain Foods and aromas stir up memories, bring smiles to our faces, and pass on traditions that last a lifetime and continue to live from generation to generation. Good food and fun cooking doesn't have to take hours and be complicated.  In today's world, we're too busy to spend hours upon hours cooking in the kitchen.  Browse through my easy recipes and give some a try.

"The Gourmet Betty site is also about the kitchen products and gourmet foods that I use or recommend, I'll explain why you would use these products and why I personally like them.  I don't believe in useless gadgets - or one more piece of equipment to clean -- but there are products out there that are very useful, depending on what you like or need to cook.  Explore the Kitchen Products & Gourmet Foods I have to sell, and find if they're the right fit for you." -Gourmet Betty

I currently live in the Cincinnati area. I lived in New Jersey for six years and am originally from Miami, Florida.  I come from a family where food is the central point of any and all reunions.  I truly believe I have the best of both worlds - born and raised in the United States, plus learned and followed the best of the Cuban heritage and customs.  Both my parents are Cuban and immigrated to the United States while they were in their early 20's.  I therefore learned and experienced two cultures and languages at the same time. (To learn more, read my Cuban Corner).

I love multi-cultural foods and enjoy discovering healthier and easier ways of cooking them. I like to share with you the products that I use and I know personally save me time, money and frustration.

I am a busy mother of 2, married for over 15 years.  I am a small business owner, web producer, marketing consultant, active volunteer in the children's' school & our church, St. Anne's Episcopal Church in West Chester, Ohio.  In 2005, I became a certified Culinary Inspirations Instructor.
