Stainglass cookiesStain-Glass Valentine's Day Cookies

Very flexible recipe - Change the cookie cutter according to the season.

You will need:

Your favorite recipe for sugar cookies

a bag of hard candies (I prefer Jolly Ranchers)

Silpat

Rolling Pin

Roul'pat

Round cookie cutter

heart cookie cutter

directions:

Make dough for the sugar cookies and refrigerate according to recipe directions.

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Unwrap all the hard candy and place in a plastic bag. Crush the candy to small bits with the rolling pin or a meat mallet. Set aside.

Place Silpat on cookie sheet and set aside.

Place Roul'pat on flat surface.

Roll out dough with Silicone Rolling Pin on Roul'pat.

Use a large round cookie cutter to cut out cookies.

Lift sugar cookie and place on Silpat.

Use small heart cutter to cut heart from the middle and carefully lift the heart and place aside to re-roll for additional cookies.

Fill the middle of the heart with approximately a tsp of crushed candy.

Bake for 7-9 minutes until the cookie is golden brown and the hard candy has melted onto the cookie.

Remove from oven and allow to completely cool before removing from Silpat. Once cool, peel of Silpat and enjoy!

Please note regarding baking recipes: not many of my instructions call for "greasing the pan" or using non-stick spray. The Silpat and Silicone Bakeware which I use do not require additional grease. If you're using a traditional baking pan or sheet, you must either apply butter or spray with non-stick spray. Please contact me with any questions.
